In August 2025, the Waterbury Selectboard signed a resolution to form a local committee to liaise with the State 250th Commission and serve as a central education, support, coordination, and communication hub for all 250th-related activities taking place in Waterbury.

The Waterbury VT250 Planning Committee is ready to connect! We:

  • Serve as a central hub for all local 250th activities happening in town

  • Maintain a community calendar of events

  • Promote local projects and help raise funds where needed

  • Share historic context to connect these anniversaries with Waterbury’s past

Our full mandate and contact information can be found on the town website: https://www.waterburyvt.com/community/vt250

Plan An Event

None of this will be possible without great events programming from our community partners. If you’re a local business, community group, or individual with a great idea for how to celebrate, we want to hear from you. To help guide our work, the American Association for State and Local History has developed five themes that may help inspire you:

  • Unfinished Revolutions

  • Power of Place

  • We The People

  • American Experiment

  • Doing History

More details about each theme can be found on the committee webpage.
